Music to be played
Marshall: Three Recorder Blues (DTrTBB) (May Hill Edition 90303 £5.50) Modernish but eminently playable - endorsed by Naomi. Samples may be listened to at http://www.mayhill.co.uk/quintets.htm
Butterworth: Wild Thyme SATB (The contemporary recorder £9.50) Modernish but not impossible! Wendy uses it for her teaching
Merulo: Three Canzonas (LPM VM 17 SSATB Score 4.50, parts 75p) Two Venetian Canzonas dating from around 1508 - will go very well with octaving instruments underneath the smaller recorders. (eg. contrabass or viol on the bass line) (being bought for the library).
Philips: Pavan Passamezzo. (LPM EM7 SSAATB Score £6 , parts?) A superb set of variations on the well-known Passamezzo theme. (being bought for the library).
Caimo: Thirsi Morir Volea A fine five-part Italian madrigal (words underlay the music) Palestrina: Reges Tharsis A superb example of Palestrina's writing for 5 voices (with words underlaid). (from Muswell Music via Peter for the library)
Byrd: Fantasia @4 SATB (previously issued by Schott and Co.) A wonderful fantasia - easy to play but tricky timing - as always with Byrd. Copies from Peter.
Walton: Suite from Duets for Children (SAATTBBG CB). Charming arrangement done for large ensemble for the SRP Festival in 2002 held at Guildford. (Library copies).
Harvey: Suite No. 5 Sherwood Forest. One of Raymond Harvey's numerous suites for recorder ensemble. - modernish and played in earlier years by the branch. (Library copies).
