The Museum of London

The City Musick is a day of talks, discussion and concerts onthe lives and music of the ‘Waits’ –
skilled and versatile musicians who were an essential part of the social fabric of renaissance London.

The day covers music for theatre, masque and public spectacle with recitals on original instruments: cornetts,sackbuts, shawms, recorders, flute, viols, cittern, bandora, lute and violinband.

The speakers are the eminent scholars Peter Holman and David Lindley withan introduction by William Lyons, the event coordinator and director of The City Musick.
An essential day out for anyone interested in music, theatre and the history of London.

The NRC offers a relaxed, supportive and friendly  environment for recorder players of all abilities to make music.

A  large variety of repertoire from Medieval to Minimalism will be studied  during the week. Recorder Orchestras are a particular feature of the  NRC and in 2010 there will be four: "Classic", Chamber, Easy and Jazz &  Blues Orchestras.

Also on offer are Masterclasses with Alan Davis,  Technique Classes, Trio Sonatas, one to a part playing and recorder  ensembles.

There is a large choice of tutors and music in each  playing session, allowing you to tailor the course to suit your  individual interests.
