About the SRP

The SRP brings together recorder players of all ages all over the UK.

Most of the day-today activities take place in branches of which we have over 50 across the British Isles: they meet monthly (or in some cases more often) for playing sessions, and these are an excellent opportunity to get together with fellow players and learn about the recorder, its music, opportunities to play in small groups, courses etc.

Most branches are conducted by a Musical Director or by conductors from within the branch, but also have well-known visiting conductors at some of their meetings.

Many branches organise concerts and other activities in their local community.

Training sessions on various aspects of recorder-playing are also arranged by branches from time to time.

There are also the National Youth Recorder Orchestras, which attract young players keen to experience this larger scale setting.

More details of the Society can be found here.
