On Tuesday 11th April, City Music Foundation launched Tabea Debus‘s latest album at Dr Johnson’s House. XXIV Fantasie per il Flauto presents a complete recording of Georg Philipp Telemann’s Twelve Fantasias for Unaccompanied Flute interspersed with twelve new works, commissioned by CMF.
Throughout the evening CMF made full use of this beautiful restored 18th-century townhouse, with the performance taking place in the garret where the great lexicographer, Dr Samuel Johnson, compiled his Dictionary of the English Language.
Earlier in the day, CMF invited Classic FM to capture Tabea performing in these fitting surroundings (Telemann and Johnson were contemporaries, though they never met!). The video is available on the Classic FM Facebook page.
