This fun and informative online workshop will give players of all abilities an insight into the relationship between language and music in the Renaissance and Baroque, an understanding of which is crucial to expressive recorder playing.

The hour-long workshop will look at historical sources of articulation practices and participants will be guided by the tutor through practical exercises designed specifically for players of any level. All materials required will be made available to the participants before the workshop.

Michael Piraner, member of Polyphonica Recorder Trio, is an experienced performer and teacher having played as soloist and in ensembles in Australia, the USA, UK, Holland, France and Germany. He has a special interest in the topic of articulation and it's relationship to language and rhetoric in the Renaissance and Baroque.
