Join Pam Smith for a day playing beautiful music from its origional notation. The repertoire will be taken from the choirbook for Philip the Fair and Jusana of Castile c.1504-6. The book consists entirely of sacred works, predominantly masses by Josquin, Pierre de la Rue and Alexander Agricola. Although the works are mostly in four voices, many of the masses contain short sections for just 2 voices and these beautiful, intimate duos will be our focus for the day. No experience of playing from Renaissance facsimile, you just need ATB recorders, an open mind and plenty of patience with yourself. The morning will be spent working through the facsimile. In the afternoon Val Giltrow-Tyler will join Pam so that you can hear both parts being played. You can then join in with which ever part you wish. PDFs of the music will be sent in advance.
