The six members of The Lachrimae Consort play the wonderful repertoire of “broken” consort music popular in Elizabethan and Jacobean times. Written for the exotic combination of treble viol, bass viol, recorder, cittern, bandora and lute, this music is some of the earliest specifically “orchestrated “ for different types of instrument – bowed, blown and plucked.
