Scottish Recorder Orchestra – Final rehearsal of season and Mini Festival

An afternoon of recorders including a world premiere, a selection of talks and the chance to play along!

The Scottish Recorder Orchestra invite you to join us for an online recorder festival on Sun June 6th between 2pm and 3.30pm.

The event will include the premier of Cheryl Frances-Hoad's new piece for recorder quartet, “Pieces of Light” and conversation with the composer.

You’ll also have the opportunity to join up to two breakout sessions with our guest speakers:

Professor Robert Ehrlich from the Leipzig Conservatoire talking about his new book “The Great German Recorder Epidemic”
The Flautadors’ Catherine Fleming talking about Alexander Technique
Mirjam Munzel & Sophie Creaner from Lux Musicae London discussing the influence of Flamenco in their performances
Folk recorder player, Finn Collinson, discussing the Norwegian Seaflute
Professor Ian Wilson talking about music of the Scottish Renaissance

You will be able to choose which talks to attend during the event.

Finally, play along at home with one of Tom Pickering’s new arrangements for recorder ensemble.

The event will be hosted on the zoom platform and joining instructions will be sent once registered.

The event is free but we kindly request a donation to the orchestra’s funds. We suggest £3, but please donate as you feel able.
