This will be our third year running the Northampton Recorder Workshop day. This is always a wonderful day packed with variety and opportunity.

We will include mass ensemble playing, smaller ensemble playing, a workshop to further develop an area of playing or music interpretation and as we will have three tutors we will end the day with a triple-choir performance. All in one day!

Hop into our time machine for a whistle-stop tour of musical history from the medieval through to the 18th century!

Voices, recorders, lutes, crumhorns, flutes, viols, violin... fasten your seatbelts as 600 years whizz by in 60 minutes!

All carefully researched and arranged, to provide an accessible journey through the changes and developments of music and instruments from Hildegard to Haydn!

We speak to our audiences throughout our concerts, keeping our performances inclusive and interactive - including a game of ‘instrument’ bingo!

Composers will include Hildegard von Bingen, Isaac, Alfonso X of Castile, Machaut, Dalza, Schlick, Attaignant, Susato, Cima, Simpson, de la Barre, Telemann, and Haydn.

NYRO Summer Course

Uppingham School, High Street, Uppingham LE15 9QE

Our 6-night residential course from 28th July to 3rd August 2024 at Uppingham School is open to players aged 10-25 with a playing standard of Grade 5 up to Diploma. There are no formal auditions for the course but if you are new to NYRO, we may ask you to attend a short, online "Getting to Know You" session before the course.

At our Summer Course, players are allocated to various ensembles according to playing standard and there will also be opportunities to play as a whole course group.

There is plenty of opportunity to relax, either in free time, or in sporting or evening activities as a group.

A deposit of £75 will be required in order to secure a place. This can only be refunded if we cancel the course and will be deducted from the full course fee of £625. There is a facility to pay the balance in three instalments providing your application is received by 1st May 2024.
