If you play the recorder and can sight-read music …

come to join us at the West Riding Branch of the Society of Recorder Players.  You will be very welcome AND YOUR FIRST SESSION IS FREE!

We meet on the second and fourth Saturday of each month from 2.00 to 4.45pm,  either in Headingley (St Columba United Reformed Church  LS6 2DH) or in Saltaire (Saltaire Methodist Church  BD18 3HJ).

After a first free session, we charge £8 per person for the Saturday afternoon meetings but there is no charge for paid-up members of the West Riding Branch, so do consider joining us. The annual membership fee is £60, or £25 for under-30s and full-time students. Our membership year runs from September to August.  For your membership fee you get free access to 20 playing sessions, split between our Saltaire and Headingley (Leeds) venues.  Look at our 2025/26 programme for more details.  We don’t meet in August.    Members also get a free monthly e-newsletter (by email) and a year’s free subscription to The Recorder Magazine, which is printed and published quarterly.

Our meetings provide regular opportunities to play recorders of all sizes with other enthusiasts. We have just over 2 hours of playing each session, with a break mid-way for refreshment and chat. From February 2026, we’ll provide refreshments (tea, coffee and biscuits) for a cost of 50p; you are of course welcome to bring your own drinks and snacks.

All music is provided, but you need to bring your own music-stand and, of course, your recorders!  You do need to be able to sight-read the music; we don’t get it in advance.  We meet for the enjoyment of playing together.
