Our current director, who has been at the helm for 22 years, is stepping back after our July meeting. We are looking for a replacement, and hope to give any prospective directors a chance to try out working with us in a playing session from September 2025.
About us: The Newcastle branch of SRP has run since 1949. It is well-established and well-supported, with between 20 and 35 players attending our monthly playing sessions. These take place on the third Saturday of the month, from 2.00-5.00pm, in St Nicholas Church Hall, South Gosforth, Newcastle. The branch has a large library of available music. The group meets to play for pleasure and does not perform.
About you: We are looking for a Musical Director to take the group forward. You would need to be comfortable working with a large mixed ability group with variable attendance. It would be helpful, but not essential, if you were able to hold the music library. We currently pay our Musical Director a small honorarium, but we are happy to discuss other possible financial arrangements. The start date would be negotiable. We have a group of volunteer conductors, which will include the current director after July, who can hold the fort until we have a new Musical Director in post if necessary.
How to get in touch: For more information or to express an interest, please contact Catherine Allen, Branch Chair, or Michael Black, Branch Committee Member at .
