“Something Old, Something New …”
Every old song was once new; and every new piece of music will one day be old. When you read a poem for the first time it is new to you, however long it has been in print.
Village Voices Towersey, Galliard Band and Peter Sawyer have devised a programme of songs, dances & readings from many centuries, which we know will be fresh and novel for you.
There is one song that is 800 years old. There is an instrumental depiction of Windsor Great Park written for us just 2 years ago. A Shakespeare sonnet, familiar to many of you, is matched with a response from one of today’s favourite poets. John Betjeman invites us to “blame the Vicar”, and an American writer struggles with a recipe from the New York Times; and an evocation of the world in 1945 reminds us just how the world has changed in 80 years.
So, sit back and be intrigued and inspired by our collection of ancient novelties and modern marvels…
