Miriam Monaghan and Caroline Jones lead intermediate and advanced players through a fun, relaxed course where it is ok to be stretched and to try new ideas. Coaching is given in recorder technique and in ensemble, including one-to-a-part, small group and orchestral playing.

Recorder technique
Including posture, breathing, articulation and finger dexterity.
Ensemble playing including one-to-a-part, small group and recorder orchestra. We will cover chordal tuning, intonation, interpretation, phrasing and ornamentation.
Miriam and Caroline will each take intermediate and advanced sessions.
Technique pieces will be sent to course participants four weeks in advance of the course. Technique classes will be divided into intermediate and advanced as will ensemble sessions.
Some one-to-a-part consort session music will be available to study four weeks before the course. Every effort will be made to form consort groups prior to the course. Pre-formed groups are welcome.
All course members will play together in the recorder orchestra sessions. N.B. There is a maximum of thirty participants on the course.
On Saturday, Miriam Monaghan will run an improvisation workshop and Peter Booth of the Early Music Shop will be bringing a wide selection of recorders.
Monmouth Recorder Course is a non-residential course, however, there are good hotels in Monmouth including The Kings Head, Punch House and Premier Inn.
The cost for the weekend is £235.00 including lunch, dinner, tea and coffee.
A deposit of £120.00 is payable by April 23rd and the balance by September 1st.
