Much of the SRP’s activity takes place within local branches.  The SRP currently has 49 branches across the British Isles.

Most branches meet monthly, and in some cases more often, for playing sessions.  These meetings are an excellent opportunity to get together with fellow players and learn about the recorder, its music, opportunities to play in small groups, courses, etc.

Some branches are conducted by a Musical Director, some by members of the branch, some by visiting conductors, and most branches use some combination of the three.

In addition to regular meetings, many branches organise other activities, including:

  • Longer Playing Days with a well-known conductor
  • Training sessions
  • Playing in concerts
  • Organising playing groups for young people
  • Organising concerts and other activities in their local community

There is a list of branches at the bottom of this and every page, and you can find a branch near you using the branch map.

If there isn’t a branch near you, try contacting a neighbouring branch as they may know of recorder-playing in your area.

If you are interested in setting up a branch in your area, please contact the secretary of the SRP () for further information and advice.
