SRP 2026 Annual Festival

In 2026 the SRP will be holding its annual festival in Taunton, Somerset. The venue will be Taunton School, Staplegrove Road, Taunton, TA2 6AD.
The school has 92 rooms available for on-site accommodation, including 20 shared rooms. Please note these rooms are not en-suite.
For those who do not wish to stay on site, or cannot secure on-site accommodation, Taunton is the county town of Somerset and has plenty of alternative accommodation facilities nearby.
There will be a large number of conductors/tutors from all over the UK and further afield to take the playing sessions and we will feature two new commissioned works for recorder orchestra. These will be played at the opening and closing massed playing sessions and a copy of each work will be made available to each SRP branch.
The Festival will open on Friday 10 April in the afternoon with registration, dinner and an evening concert by Follia 4. Playing will start on Saturday 11 April at 0930 with a massed playing session, followed by classroom sessions for the rest of the day. Registration for those only attending on Saturday and/or Sunday will begin at 0800. On Saturday evening there will be a short concert by the Flanders Recorder Duo (Tom Beets and Joris van Goethem), followed by a morris dancing session. Playing on Sunday 12 April will start at 0915, and the Festival will conclude at 1530 following another massed playing session.
For those staying on site, dinner will be provided on Friday night, breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday, and breakfast and lunch on Sunday. For those staying off-site, lunch and dinner will be available on Saturday, and lunch on Sunday. Tea and coffee will be available during the day.
To book, please complete either of the forms below – one is in Microsoft Word format and the other in PDF format. One form per person is required, even if sharing a room. All options and pricing are included on the form. E-mail return of forms is much preferred, however a postal option is provided. Payment by BACS is also much preferred.
There will also be a Fringe Festival featuring local recorder groups which will run through Saturday and Sunday, showcasing local talent and music from all eras. Further details will appear on this page nearer the time.
