Lead conductor Joris van Goethem

The 2019 SRP National Festival was held just outside Durham City, in the stunning setting of Ushaw College. The popular small group playing sessions were run by a team of experienced conductors, led by Joris van Goethem of the Flanders Recorder Quartet, who also conducted the festival commission “Dunholm Suite” by Rosemary Robinson. Other festival guests included BLOCK4 and Jonathan Dove.

The opening concert was given by Piers Adams and Red Priest and a fringe festival of performances by rising stars of the recorder world was run alongside the main event: performers included Charlotte Barbour-Condini and Sophie Westbrooke.

As usual, there was also a range of shops, including instrument makers, repairers and music publishers.
